Grand Canyon: Tour in elicottero

Il Grand Canyon è uno dei parchi naturali più famoso e affascinante al mondo, Patrimonio UNESCO dal grande valore ambientale e archeologico.
Mio padre è un grande appassionato di film e libri western e i miei ricordi da bambina sono costellati di scene di film di Clint Eastwood e John Wayne, del selvaggio west di Sergio Leone, delle terre dei Pellerossa e dei Cowboy a cui faceva da sfondo il fiume Colorado e le montagne rocciose del Grand Canyon (o almeno di questo ero convinta), aride, rosse e ancora più maestose agli occhi di una bambina.
Paradossalmente il Grand Canyon è invece il luogo meno filmato nei film western di successo, mentre nell'immaginario collettivo è ritenuto il luogo più celebre a livello cinematografico. In realtà, i suoi profili mozzafiato compaiono in Grand Canyon, nel film in Into the Wild e pochi altri. Realtà cinematografica a parte, nel mio immaginario infantile il Grand Canyon rimane indiscutibilmente lo sfondo dei film e dei libri di papà, per cui poter vedere questi panorami stupefacenti dal vivo mi ha procurato un'emozione indescrivibile!
Quando siamo stati a Las Vegas abbiamo deciso di fare tappa in questo meraviglioso parco. È stato come fare un tuffo nel passato con l'unico rammarico di non aver potuto includere papà come compagno di viaggio in questa tappa nostalgico-romantica. Prima di visitare il Gran Canyon è fondamentale capire se volete visitarlo in macchina o meno. In macchina è un po' più impegnativo, dovete armarvi di fiato e gambe allenate per poter raggiungere a piedi i punti più suggestivi. La nostra scelta è stata quella del tour in elicottero. Abbiamo impegnato una mezza giornata di quelle pianificate con base a Las Vegas, e per noi è stata la scelta vincente.
Anche questa volta ho ricevuto un consiglio prezioso (da parte del presidente della società in cui lavoro). Quando seppe che saremmo stati a Las Vegas e che avremmo visitato il Grand Canyon, ci consigliò vivamente di preferire l'elicottero all'aeroplano turistico.
Con l'aereo si può osservare il parco solo dall'alto mentre con l'elicottero si può ammirare il Grand Canyon molto più da vicino. Questo è dovuto al fatto che gli aerei sono costretti a volare a una quota maggiore rispetto agli elicotteri. Gli elicotteri inoltre sono in grado di offrire un volo più stabile rispetto agli aerei da turismo, soffrendo meno le turbolenze; può ospitare meno persone quindi il vostro tour sarà sicuramente più intimo. Inoltre per noi è stata la prima volta in elicottero, aggiungendo un'ulteriore emozione ad un elenco già ricco.
Con l'elicottero avrete quindi sia la possibilità di godere dall'alto dei maestosi panorami, sia di scendere a terra per vivere da vicino quest'esperienza straordinaria: le montagne maestose caratterizzate dagli innumerevoli colori delle rocce stratificate, un'intensa passeggiata lungo la red line del fiume Colorado garantiscono un cocktail di emozioni di fronte a tanta grandezza, oltre a tante foto per il mio papà :-)
Se avete intenzione di fare il tour in elicottero, prenotate settimane prima altrimenti rischierete di trovare già tutto occupato. Scegliete il vostro tour e godetevi questo spettacolo della natura all'alba o al tramonto quando la luce è nel suo momento più scenografico permettendovi di assaporare ogni sfumatura dell'immensità del Canyon. GRAND CANYON: HELICOPTER TOUR
The Grand Canyon is one of the most famous and fascinating natural parks in the world, a UNESCO heritage with a great naturalistic and archeological value.
My father is a big fan of western movies and books and my childhood memories are studded with scenes by Clint Eastwood and John Wayne, the wild west of Sergio Leone, the lands of American Indian and Cowboys, with the background of the Colorado River and the rocky mountains of the Grand Canyon (or this is what I believed), arid, red and even more majestic in the eyes of a child.
While in the collective imagination this park is considered the most famous place in the western movies, actually the Grand Canyon is the least filmed place in this kind of movies. In fact its breathtaking landscapes appear in the movies Grand Canyon, Into the Wild and a few others.
But at any rate in my childhood imaginary the Grand Canyon is undeniably the background of daddy's movies, and these amazing sights gave me unbelievable emotions!
When we were in Las Vegas we decided to visit this wonderful park. It was like taking a dip in the past with the only regret to miss the company of my dad during this nostalgic-romantic stage. Before visiting the Grand Canyon it is essential to understand if you want to visit it by car or not. By car it's of course a bit more challenging, you have to stock up on breath and legs to get the most suggestive points and views. We chose to visit it with a helicopter tour. We spent half a day of those planned in Las Vegas, and it was the right choice for us.
Also this time I received a precious advice (by the President of the company where I work).
When I told him that we would have flown to Las Vegas and visit the Grand Canyon Park, he advised us to prefer the helicopter tour instead of the tourist plane.
By the plane you can observe the park only from above while by helicopter you can admire the Grand Canyon much more closely. This is due to the fact that airplanes must fly at a higher altitude than helicopters. These last ones are also able to offer a more stable flight than plane, with less turbulence; a helicopter can accommodate fewer people so your tour will surely be more intimate. Besides it was for us our first time with a helicopter, adding new emotions to an already plentiful list.
By helicopter you will have both the opportunity to enjoy the majestic views from above, and to go to the ground to be delighted by this extraordinary experience: the majestic mountains characterized by the endless colors of the stratified rocks, an intense walk along the red line of the ColoradoRriver, a real cocktail of emotions in front of so much greatness, as well as many photos for my dad :-)
If you are planning to make the helicopter tour, book in advance otherwise you will risk finding everything already busy. Choose your tour and enjoy this wonder of nature at sunrise or sunset when the light is in its best scenic moment, allowing you to savor every nuance of this immensity. Enjoy it your way!
